1 week after school starts...

  • Jan. 9th, 2008 at 9:15 PM

Yes right it has been one week. And i had gone through my changed life for 1 week too.

Ok waking up at 5 am is easy, but to keep my concentration to the lecturer in school is difficult, since i dun get enough sleep due to the huge number of homework i have :/

Anyway all the teachers are GREAT compared to last year haha.

But great teachers are always accompanied by no slacking bcoz you are required to do all the tutorials. I dun mind though. as long as i get efficient teacher and can learn to my maximum capacity. Since this is JC2, which requires mugging. Yes mugging.

Talk abt mugging. Next week = maths revision test of all topics in JC1. Yes. The school is trying to kill us. Lol.

I have already not enough time and yet still giving so many test. Must grab any time that i m free to do revision. like now.

Off to practice Sequences and series.

First Day of School

  • Jan. 2nd, 2008 at 10:30 PM
Lol the first day of school for year 2008. As i said, new year new life. woke up at 5 am and reach school at 655am. lol.

After the flag raising, we have a bio test. The bio test... ermmm... was generally... okay la. should be able to pass, not aiming for high marks though.

Then good news, my maths teacher changed to mr ken yeow. Yes the one who manage all the CS list and everything. the discipline master. wheeeee. lol. at least he cares about all the tutorials unlike my maths tutor last year.

CT tutor oso changed. Another good news. No more you know who xD CT tutor is our GP tutor as well, and she is mdm madihah. haha.

Now left with dunno who is my new bio teacher, and econs teacher, since my econ class is now joined with 70. haha.

Ok looking forward to tml's GP lesson since i guess we are not doing work. (Apparently i havent do my gp hw. whee)

Yep. okay. some reading before i sleep. nites xD

I slp at 1130 pm, woke up and woke up at 230 am and can't fall asleep until 3+ am. My bro's wife woke up at around 2 am and cant fall asleep until 4am. my brother not sleeping very good.

And what happened is. my bro's wife's colleage. Also cannot sleep like until 3am... lol.

Weird heh

Wonder what is going on.

Thanks to HCI Bio department

  • Jan. 1st, 2008 at 10:09 PM
Got a shock and wth feeling thanks to the HCI Bio department.

Quote the last lecturer of bio on the last bio lecture in 2007:

Next year first day will be a test for Genetic viruses and Bacteria. Please go back and study.

End of quote

And yesterday i check smb...

Quoting SMB:

Dear H2 bio student,

..... There will be a Bio review paper at 830am on wednesday for all H2 bio students.

End of Quote

WTH. review paper = all topics.

Dear teachers.. Do you guys know that thats a 12 (or 13) topic difference in terms of content? And you expect us to finish reading it within 1 day? For goodness sake holiday is for relaxation not for mugging.

Yes. I am only done with 4 topics now. Thats 1/3 of all. Well done me.

Get ready to be gg-ed tomorrow.

15 minutes more to my sleeping time. How much can I study? I wonder.

Year 2008 Is coming =)

  • Jan. 1st, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Hah. Happy new year =)

Lol.

Anyway, These few days is Homework homework and homework. The last day of the year 2007 i went out to play para. 2 times of velfare07 kills my arm oredi. haha. That song is just imba fast and difficult. Lol.

After para-ing I go and do maths. Still left with 6 question for maths. going to do tomorrow zzz.

The school is re-opening in 24 hours. Some weird feelings about the holiday. It just so seems that i didn't do anything in the holiday other than performing and singing with the TAS Yv people. Haha.

Why the school haven't give me time table... I want to know whether wednesday got bio lecture or not... so that i can decide whether to study bio immediately tomorrow without disturbance or whether I have more time to study bio...

And is there CCA on the first day of school?

Soooo many questions running through my head for the new school year at JC2 level... zzzz. Stupid bio test and maths test. but too bad still have to do it. Lol.

Guess next year will be a mugging year for me. No more slacking around. Only mugging, managing and helping in TAS and teaching the new JC1 junior who came to the Bridge club on how to play bridge.

How I wish TAS Yv = school. I will be looking forward to go to school everyday if TAS is school. Lol.

ZZ school reopening...... Should get somebody to monitor me so that i don't slack too much. xD

Yep. Wish everyone in TAS Yv '07 and all my friends and all peeps reading this blog a Happy New Year and all the best for all your future endeavor =)

Its... Homework time.

  • Dec. 29th, 2007 at 12:08 AM
Lol. Caroling officially over.

Time to sum up what happened these few days... Whee

Ok. 26/12: Christmas / EOY lunch for TAS Yv '07

Early in the morning... Had A fight with my mum. Imagine early in the morning u just woke up, and then your mum come and visit you from Malaysia, but the first sentence she said to you is something like this

" You deserve it. Everytime ask you to drink water dun wan to drink, in the end drink so many liang teh"
" Ask you do to something oso never do. You no use oredi lah"

Gahh. Din even give me a chance to explain myself. Spoiled my first half of the day. Crapp.

Was suppose to go to ICA to settle some stuff, but due to the lack of time, I go to TAPAC straight away after I had my breakfast.

Went to TAPAC with all the gifts, and after I put down my stuff and listen to the recordings of the UFM 100.3 interview on our TAS Yv for awhile, all boys are asked to go downstairs to break... a Wooden stage. Lol. The wooden stage make us sacrified a Hammer, and then done breaking the stage with our own leg/hand/body weight. Lol.

Had a long walk to our lunch venue at Chinatown Point, and had a Indian buffet lunch. The curry was soooooooooo nice... I like the curry. After our lunch and Gift exchange and giving away present, Here comes the award Ceremony. Let me list down all the awards:

Most Hardworking Singer : Boon Wei (ME YAYY xD)
Best performer: Cindy / Yohannis
Best Emcee: Cindy
Best Solo: Yohannis
Best newcomer: Salima
Best Vocal Percussionist: Christopher
Most RA: Willie
Loudest Burper: Cindy
Most untidy singer: Christopher
Most Latecoming singer: Cindy & Arif
Worst Jokes: Yohannis

Haha. Congratulation to all the award winners above be it good or bad xD

After the lunch itself, me, Colin, Sali, Azri and Willie went to watch "I am Legend". Lol. The movie itself... ok.

Colin: Its very frightening at some point of the show. Almost give me an heart attack.
Sali: Quite scare in some point of show.
Me: ... *speechless*

I am officially immune to these scary movies whereby in the end a small thing happens and restore the peace to the whole world again. I mean. The ending of the movie is already expected by me... No fun watching it anymore. Lol. The only part where i found the movie is good is the time where Samantha ( Will's Smith dog) get infected by the virus and Will Smith need to kill the dog himself. That part really touched me. But anyway. After the movie itself we went to had dinner, shopped around and went home.

Thanks for all the gifts =)

Concluding the 26/12.

27/12. Madness Night.

In the day. Went to ICA to settle my student pass stuff. And then went back home without doing anything outside. Stupid right. But in anycase I am tired and once i reach home I take a small nap. lol

At night. What I done is... finish watching D Gray.Man manga online till the latest chapter. Lol. Shall not spoil those who buying real manga. xD But what I can say is... Allen is imba. yes. haha

Here's the fun part. When I was watching manga while talking to Sali at the same time, suddenly a new convo tab is opened, and i saw inside. Whoo all the TAS ppl. haha. Guess we can't even stand a day without talking to each other eh. The convo itself is quite stupid, no content at all, Colin was lost all the while, and I am like. Oh well, talking crap with them as well.

Then. At around 12 am. Yohannis chat to me in another window, ask me to call Sali, want to phone conference. Haha.

And guess what. I call in, and more and more ppl are added into the conference. Me, Sali, Yohannis, Colin, Mandy, Jeremy, Willie, Rachel, Melo, Chris (appear for awhile beatboxing) (sorry if i missed out anyone, bcoz these people are actually those talkied in the conference), and again the conference is without content at first, until later part where we start discussing on our plan on Saturday, which is today, and about the countdown gathering of TAS Yv at 31/12. Haha.

For the first time in my life, I actually called somebody(ies) for 70 minutes. lol. Thats the end of 27/12, and coming to 28/12

28/12: Mugging Day.

Woke up at 1130 am, and went to eat lunch. After I am back to home from lunch. Guess what. I actually sit on the chair, and start doing homework.

List of Homework:
2 Econs Essay (O)
2 Econs Case studies (X)
18 question of chem (o)
27 question of maths (X) Reason: I don't even have the question paper :/
8 question of bio (o)
GP. (Dao-ing)

Lol. Legend:
O : fully done
o: mostly done, skipping those i dunno how to do
X: haven't even touch.

But it is quite surprising that I can actually complete so many homework in one day! lol. I actually sit in front of the com and my table doing homework since 12pm to 12 am. Lol.

You guys must think that I am mad man. I think I am mad too. But considering the time I have left for all these homework, ok. 5 days to School reopen, - 28/12 = 4 days, - Saturday TAS Yv rehearsal + outing = 3 days, and - 31/12 for TAS countdown gathering. OMG I am left with 2 days. lol. So. Yeah. Sometimes under desperation people can do what they won't do normally. This is seriously the second time i sat there and do hw / mugging for more than 10 hours in a day.

Completed A Holly Jolly Christmas NWC and had it uploaded onto the Yahoo Group. Second NWC completed by me. Those interested check that out. Haha. (That is 1 hour out of the 12 hour i sat in front of the table and doing work, but still. This 1 hour is sort of relaxation from all the words. Instead, I look at music notes =P)

Yes and thats the end of 28/12. Upcoming, 29/12 which is today. Seriously wish that 1 pm come faster so that I can go to TAPAC and meet you all again =)  Thats all. Signing off. =)

P/S: To Colin if you are watching: I am wearing the new shirt that you and Yohannis buy for me tomorrow =) haha.

Yesterday is Christmas!!

  • Dec. 26th, 2007 at 1:59 AM
Yep. 2 hours before is the last minute for Christmas, and I am busy preparing the gifts for todays christmas / end of year lunch 2 hours before.

I think. TAS Yv is getting more and more important in my life... xD Now i sort of... cannot part with the singing and rehearsing... TAS Yv seriously brings much joy into my life, and I will never regret joining TAS Yv. =)
Spent 4 hours writing the cards and finally done +  the 5 hours spent on cutting the cards and making the heart shape. Wow. Its kinda amazing that i actually spend 9 hours without knowing on the cards itself without a single rant. Maybe the love of TAS Yv represses every rants i have =)

<3 TAS Yv.

Anyway, my estimation is very accurate. Because after i do the first card, i told Jeremy Tan that I am going to spend 4 hours on it., and indeed i spent 4 hours. lol. In any case, to all TAS Yv people out there reading this journal, I want to say sorry if you think my gift wrapping skills is cmi, because my gift wrapping skills is indeed not very good. Anyway, hope you guys like the prezzie i prepared for you =)

Anyway, Yeah. Last performance at SDC. Still the same standard i think, not very good, but not too bad either. Have better lunch than yesterday, though xD How I wish there are more performances and the school isn't coming any time soon... Come to think of it, first bio lecture = bio test and term 1 week 3 = maths revision test and I haven't do anything about them yet X.X Who come and help me :/

Sali probably still messing with the gifts and cards she bought for the TAS Yv, as like... she today afternoon still buying stuff. lol Jia you =) And remember to take care of yourself... =) even though there isn't any more performances coming up but still drink tonnes of water and slp earlier ok =)

Am going to miss these performance days, and am going to miss those people who are leaving TAS Yv after tomorrow... Junkai, Josephine, Joshua... Thanks Junkai for managing and administrating all the performances we had once you come back to TAS Yv, and thanks Josephine and Joshua for singing together with us this Christmas season and enjoyed singing with you =) Hope will see you guys next year at TAS Yv again =)

Four bags of Christmas presents going to be carried around tomorrow. I think i seriously should go to TAPAC, drop my things there and then I go to ICA to settle my stuff.

Anyway. I think i should go and sleep earlier especially I need to wake up quite early tomorrow also to settle the ICA stuff. bleah.

P/S: I WANT TO FORM A SINGING TEAM... Who's interested xD (I only know melo is interested up till date xD)

Merry Christmas!

  • Dec. 25th, 2007 at 12:00 AM

Merry Christmas to all the TAS Youth Voices Admins & Singers!!!!!

Merry Christmas to all the people who are reading my LJ!!!!!

I wish you a merry christmas
I wish you a merry christmas
I wish you a merry christmas
And a happy new year =P

Whee.

For all those TAS Yv singers who still have the last performance today (P1 and P2 people) Good luck to your last performance and of course enjoy the performances as this will be the last performance for our Christmas Caroling Session in Year 2007 =)

Go TAS Yv =)

P/S: Sleeping time =) If I still sleep at 3 am today tomorrow I am going to be very tired xD so no way. Because when my tiredness reach a certain level, I will not be happy and I will tend to ignore a lot of conversation, and I will dao a lot of people. So to prevent any of the above happening, I decide to sleep now. nites =)

Christmas Eve!!

  • Dec. 24th, 2007 at 11:45 PM
Yeps. Thats right. 15 minutes to Christmas. Haha.

Anyway, for the performance wise... Nothing much to comment about since the standard is still there, not exceptionally well but not too bad either. One thing to comment. SDC food... cmi. 1 more performance to go for me... Tomorrow at SDC... (again. hope food is better).

Performances left: 1
Estimated performing pay: $430. (about 40% of what Yohannis got for her pay this month haha)

As I said. The important thing is not the performances... Haha. The important thing now is the prezzie for the TAS Yv singers...

Yep. Well done me. I finish wrapping all of them up. But I still got a long way to go... CARDS!!! And ZZ I haven't buy any glue yet... Y do i need glue? go and guess yourself =P

These few days are tiring me out man. Haha. Running here and there to get presents and performances... Feel very sleepy right now. But still, since now is 12 minutes to Christmas, I shall stay up for that 12 minutes and go to sleep. Haha.

Looking forward to the 26 December, where TAS Yv has their Christmas / End of Year Gathering lunch. =) Who will be the three. =P

Before I go to the power-saving mode, I shall comment on the efficiency of ICA Customer feedback service. I send a email last sunday, and the ICA website says within 5 working days I will get the reply... 5 working days... = last friday? and today is monday :/ Low effiency. But never mind.

Yep. I shall go into power-saving mode again. =P

P/S: Mehh. I am tired... 5 more minutes =P

I just met a rich man...

  • Dec. 23rd, 2007 at 2:20 AM
The busiest day for TAS Yv in the December has passed =P Haha.

Anyway, sorry to all those singers who performed at Tampines Mall yesterday morning (since now is 23/12 haha) especially sali, bcoz i said that i will go down and watch you all perform but in the end i overslept bcoz i nvr hear my alarm clock ringing :/ In the end i woke up at like 10 am...

Yep. Went shopping before I go for my rehearsal for the private function at Woodlands. Bought the gifts for the girls already... But boys... :/ I seriously dunno what to buy. Any suggestion :/

When I reach TAPAC, other singers are rehearsing for their charity show at Golden Hope Aged Home, while our team are there to rehearse for our private function. Lol. We sing... 4 more songs than them. Haha. Anyway, Cindy was there training the charity show singers when i reached TAPAC, then we chat awhile, teach Jeremy tenor line of Jingle bells, and rehearse our repertoire. And then we go to our destination through cab...

The cab price... increased by a lot after the increment of price for taxi fare... WTH from TAPAC to the gorgeous house that we are performing at costs 27 bucks -.- I never ride a taxi that ex before :/ Yeah, anyway, the house is... IMBA big, and imba gorgeous. The owner of the house is a CEO of some big Oil company that most probably he is a billionaire >.< I just met a rich man.......  We were then taken to their home theater at basement for our rehearsals if needed, and then the kids that were performing with us are like playing with us in that room. They even ask for autographs from us and call us idols O.o The room is freezing though. Haha.

When we are going for sound check, it rained >.< And then part of the electricity of the house is cut off because of certain wire fused. (I am not very good at electric stuff), and then for the first set of our performance we have to sing without mic.

After first set of performance, we went back down to the basement for our dinner =) Hungry Hungry. =P And then one of the performing kids, Amy, keep running back and forth helping 8 of us to get ice-creams. I think she like Cindy a lot haha.

GOOD NEWS! The electricity is back by the time we were going to perform our second set! Then I can be heard =P Haha. Because I seriously wonder how people are going to hear me when I am not equipped with mic, because my voice is very low as compared to other singers in the team. We continued with second set, and then went down again to have more food =P Whee. And the performance... so far so good =P

Then the third set as well. No problems, and then we sang "Season of Love" with the kids performers. The kids are lovely and cute haha.

Generally, the performance is ok and do not have any serious mistake. So its a good thing =)

After our performance, we get back to the basement. In the house there are helium filled balloons, and then Chris play with the helium... His voice changed until very comical and hilarious after he breath in the helium gas and sing "Lonely" by Akon. It just sound very alike with the song. Haha. Everybody else tried and we have a lot of laughter there. I never know helium gas is so fun to play with =P Haha. Some of the singers even bring back some helium balloon to play the "Voice changing technique" at home. Haha.

After that we packed up and plan to leave. The owner of the house and then ask his driver to send our mixer and some people back to their home, and then give us $400 for Cab fares. Yes you never see wrongly. its not $40, its $400. We were like. WTH he is freaking rich. Jeremy Ho, our manager ask him that whether these $400 is included in the performance pay, and he says "No I am going to pay you all again for the performance."  OMG He is really rich. While waiting for our cab to come, Amy's mum actually ask us about the TAS, and Sali surprisingly take out a namecard from TAS from her wallet and gave it to Amy's mum. I was like O.o Where the heck does the namecard come from. But thats not the important point. The important point is that this is brilliant. Carrying TAS namecard wherever we go to perform, and if got people come and ask us about TAS we can simply advertise ourselves through the namecard =) Brilliant. I am going to take some namecard next time I am at TAPAC. And the TAS website. Going to revamp it to make it look nicer. Especially now i think a lot of people will actually look at the website if we start distributing TAS namecard.

Later when me, Sali, Jeremy Tan and Jeremy Ho are in the cab, JHo called Junkai and Angie and like saying in that OMG tone about the extra $400 cab fare... I wonder how much $ will him pay for our performance lah. OMG.

P/S: Yeah Before we left, we actually ate some of the chocolates that provided by the caterer for their dinner, and the chocolates are DAMN nice.... I <3 Chocolates =P And its 3 AM again. haha. 3 am is a good time to slp =) Nites.

Christmas is around the corner =)

  • Dec. 20th, 2007 at 11:22 PM

Yes. 5 more days to Christmas. And 5 more days of performances.

Wait. Performances is not the main problem...

5 more days... 5 more days... What to do in these 5 days except for performing...

"Hey have you buy Christmas present for your friends oredi?"

Oh HOLY CRAP. lol.

Come to think of it. Yeah i only got 5 more days. Minus off performances time and rehearsal time and supporting time and travelling time... I think i left around 2 days...

WHAT 2 DAYS? *check his christmas present to buy & to do list*

GG. Jia lat lah. these few days = shopping + performing + rehearsing + travelling oredi. nth else. haha.

Bleah. Anyway if you are guessing who am I buying for... Go ahead and guess. But it's only for TAS Yv ppl only =P Sry but I dun have that much $$... xD So... bear with it yeah, for those friends who are reading this but is not in TAS. Sry. Will pay back next time =P

Got info that next year there will be 3 people taking over TAS Yv... Sali... Cindy... I wonder who is the third one. Oh yeah and Sali, if you are going to post some comment like saying no lah not me, no point doing it because it sort of like quite obvious that I think you will be one of them as you have seriously help a lot for TAS Yv. =P So. even if you say its not you I am not going to believe you until I know who is the 3 people... =P

Today's show at DE. What to day. 1 word. Great. This is my... *counting* 10th performances for TAS since I joined the Yv, and. Out of the 10 shows, I think this one is the best. Seriously. What I saw on stage is just. A lot of wonderful audience down the stage, which are very enthusiastic and responsive. Imagine we even  The crowd is not a normal crowd I had for previous performances at DE. Those crowd are like. Only... 20 people at most? Today, large crowd of people sitting on the staircase in front of the stage, listening to our songs and they clapping along... Cute little boys and girls are there sitting in front of the stage listening to us singing, and come up on stage willingly to help in our programme of beatboxing and dancing. This is the first time we performers do not need to go down stage to grab people. And oh. Thanks Lex for coming down supporting us and come up on stage and try beatboxing =) Haha. I think there is more than 80 audience... Yeah. Thats about the amount gathering in front of the stage listening to our singing. It really makes you feel happy when you are performing to such an amount of crowd and they enjoyed your singing. The feeling after the performance is... simply undescribable... No out of tune... Nothing serious happened. Only that according to Junkai he says only the sops when heard is a bit flatter. But the real reason is due to all the others went a bit sharper. =P But anyway. I think today is seriously a very good show... Cindy even called "encore" after we performed our last song... Then Colin says he gets high after the performances... Yeah. Thats how great the show is. But no, no complacency. Will continue to work harder to learn the music and sing, learn until no more sharper or flatter =)

Two more songs to master by Saturday (or maybe more. but this is those i currently noe i must learn one):
1) Jingle Bells
2) Hark! The herald angels sing

And tomorrow I got 2 shows =) yay. Wait. why the heck am I yay-ing. 2 shows = no time to buy presents. And I still yay-ed? Nvm still yay. xD Hope. No more coughing / nose-blocking / sore throat tomorrow. running for 2 shows + an important shows on Saturday is not funny at all when all these things happened.

The surge of forming my own a cappella team is rising... And Colin ask me to go and form one then compete in next year's A cappella Championship. Haha. Shall seriously consider forming a cappella singing.

Well. I think thats all i should type for today. Shall go off and start doing on my christmas cards... Or else seriously no time oredi...
(And I still need to wash my clothes... And check out some stuff on the net... bathe... Bleah I think... 3 am is indeed a good time to slp. Haha.)

Hmm.

  • Dec. 20th, 2007 at 12:04 AM

My sleeping for today was terrible... wake up in between every 2 hours... 11 pm slp, 1 am wake up once, 3 am wake up once, 5 am wake up once :/ bleah.

Anyway, it SEEMS that my sore throat is better today. Hope tomorrow my sore throat will not worsen.

Yeah. For today, got off bed at 8 am. lol y i use got off instead of wake up? bcoz i wake up at nvr fell asleep after 5 am again :/ bleah. just sit on bed, lie on bed, roll on bed... refusing to got off haha. Then go to Tanjong Pagar (whee some how this place is very familiar to me now, where 2 mths ago like. what tanjong pagar? i go there for wad xD) to meet the icon village performance team for today to have practices before the performance itself at 1230 pm.

Meet an interesting people. Edwin. Somehow I think my presence there seems to have pressure on him.

When i first meet him at mrt station, after self introduction to each other...

Edwin:" So what part did you sing har?"
Me:" Bass loh"
Edwin: "Then today you here then u sing loh"

I was like. O.o har you come here in the end let me sing? lol my presence there is to help you and just in case you can't make it i will be the "backup plan", but not let you give up immediately :/ Yeah anyway, i helped him in getting some of the tunes for bass in the repertoire, however during the performances some of the part he still go off tune... but yeah anyway he 1 year never sing oredi... so can't blame him much but can only hope that he can learn the part ASAP so that won't like sing offtune in the future performances. Jiayou =)

The Icon Village... is... quite few people there xD But the performance team still sing to their best (At least in my opinion, what Angie think... i dunno xD) yeah. Both sharon and sam having this show as first show, and they look quite lost (also according to angie one haha), hope they will improve over the time =)

After the performance we go and eat lunch, and Elizabeth, Sali, Sam and I went to TAPAC, originally wanted to meet Colin there, but in the end Colin nvr come, and the girls has their fun time singing English songs which I dun really know since I rarely listen to English songs... Haha guess maybe its time for me to start to listen to English songs... The feeling of being left out still dun feel nice, even though i am used to it already thanks to my secondary school years where everybody else in my class was like talking something I do not know everytime. But anyway, went to Pasir Ris after that to support the shows by the team... Even though... somehow I think its quite... not up to standard.

The first few songs were generally ok, Last Christmas (One of my favourite song in the repertoire)  was... disastrous. not blending... And we cannot really hear Elaine on solo for that song... Then the basses (Today the show at DE got 2 basses, Aaron and Alvin) skipped the last three line of the Santa Claus is coming to town, and some of the songs basses forgot their line... Other parts are generally ok, even though Azri was like complaining that he keep going off tune in one of the song (i forgot which one). Also the movement on stage is quite messy for some songs... Generally still ok lah. But again, as I always says, there is still room of improvement lah... Out of 10

Me: 6/10
Cindy: 5/10
Chris: 3/10
Azri: 4/10

I wonder am i too lenient or wad. Maybe I am.

Have dinner after the performance, and heard from Colin saying that Edwin is quite sensitive... Maybe this is the reason for what happened in the afternoon... And then heard some of Colin's history on his illness even though there is performances, and some funny moments that Colin prophesized (or should I say he just know everything?) every actions that Cindy will have once she started laughing. Lol. And it is totally correct... Quite funny during our dinner lah. Went back home after dinner, which by the time i reach home is... about 1.5 hour ago.. haha.

Tomorrow taking over Edwin's show in the evening at DE because he is busy... Yeah. Guys, pray that I will not lose my voice tomorrow thanks to my sore throat. Actually I really hope that my sore throat will be gone as soon as possible... zz nvm. shall drink tonnes of water and go to sleep... ASAP (maybe before 1am). Haha. Guess I am going to be nagged again =P

Yep. thats right. About 7 hours ago, I am performing at Downtown East again, singing all our christmas tunes after 1 week of rest because of no performances arranged for me xD

Yeah. Anyway, as usual the singers meet at BK of Downtown East at 5 pm. And as usual i take bus 161 from woodlands to sengkang and switch to bus 89 to go to DE. And on my way to DE, I saw Willie walking to DE. lol.

All the singers soon gathered at BK... Me (Bass), Colin (Tenor), Willie (Bari), Melissa (Sop2), Alicia (Alto1), Xiang Yi (Sop1), Chris (VP)... Usually Colin sing bass, but he is here to sing tenor today because our Azri is having a high fever... Take care Azri...

But wait. You must be thinking... Eh? I thought in your performance there should be 8 singers? Where's the last one?

At around 5.30pm, our team of singers was waiting for Elaine, our last singer who sing Alto 2... However as our meeting time is 5pm, and we still need to rehearse one more time before our sound check, Xiangyi called her to ask whether she is arriving soon.

Xiangyi: "Hello? Elaine ah. Where are you ah?"
Elaine: "At home... why?"

GG-ed. lol. During that time, Colin, Willie, Xiangyi and I are sharing the same table at BK, and when we hear that Elaine is still at home, Willie and I got the same response...

WHAT? WHY ARE YOU STILL AT HOME? DON'T YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PERFORMING TODAY?

Yeah. And thats how we ended up only having 7 singers.

Anyway, the performance is generally ok... but but but. same feeling as the first show that sali had after the few day rest... the team... is lacking energy. Not high enough. And the movement on the stage is... quite messy. Singing wise... in Santa Baby some of the tunes is off... Bleah. Maybe its because that we are a new team and did not know each other that well bah. Still got lots of room of improvement...

And. The mics. Again. The mics for Colin and Willie turn off in the middle of the performance for 1 sec, and come back again. And. The feedback from the speaker is... very difficult to avoid. Tried and finally no more feedback... Hope we can get better equipment next time xD
We got responsive audience for this performance... which makes me feel better xD

Back to Woodlands Causeway point after our performance as Colin need to help to keep the sound mixer and mics that TAS owned for Tomorrow afternoon show at Shenton way... Then we met all the other team of singers in Banquet on the 7th floor of Causeway point. Jeremy, Edwin, Alton, Shengming, Salima, Yohannis, Josie, Cindy and Junkai are there. Yohannis was there training to become a "walking pitch pipe". Talked for awhile while Junkai is settling some admin stuff. Junkai says that I may get more shows, and he says that my bass is very firm. Yay, but wait. No way i am satisfied with that. Should further improve my singing =) But still I felt happy =)

Alton lost his wallet, and Cinch left her white shirt at ITE Simei... What a weird day, people losing all their stuff. Anyway hope they can find their stuff ASAP...

Good luck peeps.

  • Dec. 16th, 2007 at 1:37 AM

Yes. 9 more days to Christmas, and 10 more days to TAS Yv group lunch to celebrate we finished our performances.

Well. I think its time for me to go and look out at the stores to buy christmas present and cards for all my fellow friends, groupmates and singers in the TAS Yv, and of course Angie who actually takes her time out just to train us in singing and everything these few weeks. Appreciate the effort she had put in for TAS Yv, because within these 2 months in TAS Yv i think i had learn a lot about singing and staging. Of course, still got room of improvement. Go me =P

Now the updated Show list of mine. Upcoming in the next 9 days.
1) Downtown East, 17/12 730 pm
2) Downtown East, 21/12 730pm
3) Christmas Carols, 19 Beach Road, 7pm (OMG THIS IS A PRIVATE SHOW... CANNOT SCREW UP =P And maybe thats the reason y Junkai put S2 for this show =) S2 rocks xD )
4) Singapore Discovery Center, 24/12 130 pm
5) Singapore Discovery Center, 25/12 130 pm

For people who wish to come and listen to our christmas tunes which we hope to bring the joy of christmas, feel free to do so... its free of charge =)  Haha.

Well. New Repertoire. Guess wad? yes, the topic had said. Jingle Bells, and one more, Elijah Rock. Whee. More songs more songs =P Sort of spastic am I =P

Today @ TAPAC:

Whee, reached TAPAC with Azri at around 1245, and guess what? Inside the room only got Xiangyi, Junkai and Angie. We are early aren't we xD Have a short chat between ourselves about the admin stuff of the TAS Yv, and the other people reached at around 1 pm which is our scheduled meeting time. Then we had our warm ups for singing. Its quite embarrasing for me in 1 of the warm ups, but nvm, it provides laughter for my fellow friends in TAS Yv =) They happy I happy haha.

What exactly happened is, during the warm up, we sang "Mamemi Mamemi Mamemi Mamemi Mamemi Mamemi Mamemi Moo" up the range, and down the range. But for some unknown reason, everytime when i go down the range, at the last few "Mamemi", I will get confused and sing "Mamime". Lol, for the first time its still ok where by i thought its just slipped off, but what happened is I just keep singing "Mamime" everytime i go down the range. Lol. Everybody was like: Eh? Why is there a Mamime? I thought we are supposed to sing Mamemi? Lol.

Yeah. Anyway, after the warm ups, we rehearsed Jingle Bells, our new song. And Guess what. Now Willie is the one who keep sing wrong in one of the part of the song. He is required to sing like "up down up down up down" for the tunes, but everytime he sang "down up down up down up" for the tunes, which get him irritated at himself lol. He was like stomping the floor and... yeah haha. anyway in the end he got correct. Good job Willie =)

After the rehearsal of Jingle Bells, Angie and Junkai talked about some general rules and discipline we should have during rehearsals, and about the upcoming shows. And then Girls had their make up lessons, while guys go out and have more training ourselves xD Its sort of weird. Its originally raining outside, but when we practicing, the more we sang, the heavier the rain goes.

After the practices i went Bishan for my National Youth Team Championship for Contract Bridge, at around 420, and its still raining heavily. My poor bag got wet. Rain Rain Go Away Don't ever come back again =P

Before continuing, Disclaimer: Well I doubt most of the people who read this won't understand the following part, but i m still blogging this just in case anybody knows and interested in this. And if you think you are interested in contract bridge after reading, feel free to approach me for more details, or join the HC bridge club if you want =) And if you don't feel like reading anything about bridge, please skip the next part =P Those with a * sign beside some words is a special term for Contract Bridge, and i will put the explaination later =P

National Youth Team Championship @ SCBA Clubhouse, Bishan:

Yes. The National Youth Team Championship. One of the biggest Youth event in Singapore for Contract bridge.

Anyway, reached SCBA at around 5pm, and found out that my team wasn't doing very well :/ But bo bian lah. My team, when I am not there, was 2 new partnership. Well, anyway, first 2 round both lost, one is 25-1 *vp (very bad score) and the other one is 18-12 vp (mmm... ok... not very bad, but not good... )

Yeah. Saw some... Not correct bidding when the game is going on, and surprisingly, end up with a push board. (Push board means same score for both tables), and I made a impossible 6H contract, which contributed to the first win for my team today xD

The 6H Game:

Dummy :    S KTx
                  H Txxx
                  D A9xxx
                  C A

Declarer:    S Jxx
                   H AKQ98xx
                   D xx
                   C K

Shall not talk about bidding, as its it difficult to explain here. Anyway, I am in 6H (I am the *declarer), which means I am going to take 12 tricks all together with that hand. The *lead was a Club, and the *dummy lay down. OMG WTH did i just end up in a impossible 6H contract :/  But ok. No point surrendering, just hope for wrong defence for the board. I won the lead with the Ace, dropping my king, and lose a small dime to the opponent.

What happened next. The opponent, which won the dime lead, thinks for a long time. And return a club! The defender just gave me a *ruff and discard! By then i saw the lights. I can discard away my spade losers and hope for dime 3-3 break. Immediately i took the action, discarding a spade from my hand and ruff in dummy, drawed 1 round of trumps, and cross over with Dime Ace, ruff a small dime, and indeed the dime breaks 3-3! By then i claimed the hand, gaining a total of 12 *IMPs. And this board, contributed to the first win for my team today =) Yay.

Yeah. The follow up round... Doesn't have anything spectacular, and i shall just report the scores here...

First round: Opps 18 VP, Me 12 VP
Second Round: Opps 25 VP, Me 1 VP
Third Round: Opps 25 VP, Me 0 VP
Fourth Round: Opps 8 VP, Me 22 VP
Fifth Round, Opps 6 VP, Me 24 VP
Sixth Round, Opps 24 VP, Me 6 VP.

Maximum obtainable VP in 6 rounds = 150 VPs, and my team got...65 VPs... Ok that is bad... Hope tomorrow will be a better day =) My aim for tomorrow, get 25 VP for all the 6 rounds. =P

Appendixes:
1) VP: Victory Points, A point scale converted from IMPs.
2) IMP: International Match points, a point scale converted from the difference of points with the same hand played in different contract.
3) Declarer: The person who play the hand.
4) Dummy: The partner of the person who play the hand, in which he do not require to do anything except for playing the cards that declarer instructed him to do so.
5) Lead: The first card played for the hand by defender.
6) Ruff and Discard: A card played which allows the player to discard a loser in one hand and trump in the other hand.

End of National Youth Teams Championship @ Bishan

Wow. Another long post. Haha. And i typed for 1 Hour again. Well done me. Yeah. Anyway, I think i shall go and sleep now, as it is already 230 am and i need to wake up at 730 am tomorrow to prepare for the next 6 rounds of the Bridge Championship tomorrow, and good luck to my fellow TAS Yv Singers for the performances tomorrow =) Enjoy your performance and make your audience enjoy your christmas tunes too =)

Sali, Is this a virus that can spread or something? Now I am sleeping around 3 am everyday... Quoting Sali: Yay 3 am is a good time to sleep. Lol =P

Updates. finally. lol

  • Dec. 15th, 2007 at 1:16 AM

Yay. Back to LJ. According to LJ, it says. "Last updated: 32 weeks ago" LOL.

Anyway quite a number of things happened in this period. Let me try to list them down...

1) Block Test: HAHAHA. screwed up. Get CSSSU for Blocks. Congratulation. If you want to guess wad subject i get U for... Go ahead =P

2) Played in Singapore Mixed Pair Contract Bridge Championship, and got joint third !! This is currently my highest achievement in my contract bridge career since i learnt the game itself at the starting of this year.

3) Played in NUSS Inter JC Contract Bridge competition... Hmm. Can consider as one of the biggest event for Contract Bridge at JC level. Tried my best to get in to semi finals, but at the last round my team got beaten by my senior's team, losing by only a margin :/ sad. *sniff sniff* After the NUSS Competition, my senior got blamed by me for like almost... 3 weeks xD Because its really sad for me that i can't get into semi finals at jc1... (Well, maybe its just luck... but. wadever xD). Anyway. You will definitely see my team pwn the stage next year. =P And yes. that will definitely happen, please don't even doubt the chance of it happening =P

4) Joined the Contract Bridge Training team under the current Singapore Youth Team Coach... Yay. (This allows me to pursue my dreams in  my Contract Bridge Career... Guess what?)

5) Pia-ed my PW. Yeah. Well done. Done quite a number of work in the Group. And yay. the whole research paper, is done. well. anyway. If I am going to oversea University, i dun think PW is that much a matter... (PW is only concerned by 2 university in the whole world as far as i know. Guess what? NTU and NUS. Maybe SMU oso, but that one i m not sure. lol)

6) Here comes the Promo Exams :/ Well, for the first time, i m willing to sit on the chair, and mug bio for a consecutive 12 hours (2pm to 2am) with the aid of coffee and friends xD And. Thats actually the first time this year you see me on serious mugging.

7) Sabbacticals II !!! YAY YAY YAY I chosed the correct sabbacticals to go!! Regretted joining the Conversational Japanese in Sabbacticals 1, this time round i chose a sabbacticals i had passion in it. And the passion is still going on. Its a Sabbacticals related to singing. Its A cappella Bootcamp! Haha. Joined this sabbacticals reasons:

a ) I like to sing. (doens't look like? observe more carefully =P)
                b) The interest increased drastically after NANU's performance in our schools introducing the schools to A cappella singing. Their performance... inspired me and impressed me =)

Yeah, anyway for the sabbacticals itself, its more of like an introduction to A cappella singing, and of course about the performance technique, standing posture, and of course learning how to perform an A cappella piece in a performance =) Meet a lot of people who share the same interest in singing, and of course the sabbacticals is very fun! Especially the morning warm up =) haha. Must thanks Angie (President of A cappella Society of Singapore, members of NANU), Alemay (Members of NANU) and of course our oversea teacher, Java Five for teaching that wonderful song of Jeeper Creepers! According to Angie, she said that the Jeeper Creepers we sang during the camp itself is really up to performing standard and its very tight =) yay happy =)

8) Recieve Promo's result. ok lets ignore it shall we =P

9) Joined the The A cappella Society - Youth Voices program! Yay. Passion for A cappella singing! GOGOGO haha. Somehow immediately after the sabbacticals, i think i fell in love with A cappella singing. Haha. Few friends from the A Cappella Bootcamp also went there with interest and passion in singing. And whee. This is sort of like a change in my life. I never think that I will have any chance performing on stage before i join the TAS Yv, but now I am singing Christmas Carols in different places of Singapore to bring the joy of the Christmas tunes to our audience (lol that sound like the MC line for our show but nvm =P just koop haha) Now going to the Telok Ayer Performing Art Center is sort of like a weekly event for me, and that room for TAS is sort of like a third home for me haha (since second home is always deemed as the school... but i seriously want to upgrade the TAS room to second home and school as third. i hate schools =) ) Enjoyed the songs that we are performing, enjoyed the singing when our voices are put together.

Inside the TAS Yv program,  seriously. A lot of people from different secondary schools / JC come together and share our interest and passion in singing =) Was assigned to senior 2 (S2) team, and S2 rox lah =) whee

And Yay. Tomorrow got rehearsal / vocal training again !! ( How about... YAY every Saturday can go TAPAC for TAS Yv activity =P )

And definitely, even after the christmas carolling is over, I will still stay in TAS Yv =) Thats definitely, absolutely, positively.

10) Ok. last and final point. This post is getting toooooo long. of course must mention about the chalets =) Class chalets and CCA chalets. I just discovered that quite a number of my classmates and cca mates are... Mahjong Freaks. lol. They can play Mahjong overnight one leh. Impressed. And during the CCA chalet, 17-18 ppl squeezing in one room. whee. Very fun. Haha. Anyway, the chalets are fun although the activity is much limited =) Thanks Valerie for organising the Class Chalet =)

I hope there isn't any point that i missed out... And well. This is indeed a long post. Can be an essay on "What have you done for the past 32 weeks?" haha. Sad things, i will just ignore it. =P My journal... shouldn't contain any sad stuff. =P

Result of the CJC bridge competition

  • May. 1st, 2007 at 6:54 PM
Well. Today's result was... surprising. HCI only won the third placing in overall for the competition, and i think none of the consolation prize O.o

Anyway, I can only say that... My team is quite unlucky in a way... The competition is held with swiss tables of 4 rounds (swiss: change table after u finished a round and face different opponent), and then choose the top 8 team of the swiss into a quarter-final knockout. For Swiss tables of 4 rounds, the points is calculated by VP ( VP: the conversion of points from IMPs, which is counted from the differences in total points of the hands played), and Cross IMPs for the quarter-finals and above.

The opponent of first round is decided by drawing lots, and what happened to my team is... WE FACE OUR OWN SCHOOL STRONGEST TEAM. Then i was lyk... WTH. how come will this happened. By having this, the chances of my team making into quarter-finals decreased by A LOT. Because my team is going to lose to them (like duh...). The result is still satisfactory, without losing too much to them, with VP of 20-10 ( lose 15 IMPs). However, due to a mistake made by my teammate in Round 2, we faced RJC team 4 (strongest team from RJC), and become thrashed by RJC by a VP of 25-5. Third round is a sit-out for us due to there is an odd number of teams playing, and we got 18VPs straight for the sit-out. (That's considered as a loss since normally can have VP of 20 and above if u have the normal standard). That makes my team's VP 33 at round 3, which is totally impossible to get into quarter-finals. And so, I played on and get a total VP of 53 for the first 4 rounds, and only 2 of our teams get into the quarter finals.

Ok. Dun talk about my results after 4th round. I am basically... playing with normal standards while my teammates keep... noobing. :P so... the outcome should be imaginable lar. For the HCI quarter-finalists, both team thrash 25-0 VPS against the other school ( 51+ IMPS differences), but on semi-finals, due to a number of mistakes they made (opponent make 6NT and our team 7NT-1, contributes to a swing of 16 IMPS to opponent...). both team lost and only assured a third. My team captain... should be quite sian and sad by now...

Shall not fault my teammates for any mistakes they made, since this is the first bridge competition for all of my teammates... Must says that this competition is a good experience for us, and through this competition we know where are we standing and can start to prepare for our next competition in June Holidays.

What i have decided to do after this week. I will mug bridge, while hoping not screwing any of my academic subjects, in preparation for the NUSS Bridge competition held in June holidays. Hoping to get something in NUSS competition. And tomorrow is my bridge captain interview.

Anyway shall go and sleep now... Mind break down after 42 boards of bridge le... maybe wake up later and mug a bit of chem and bio...

Nervous and excited as usual, especially now.

Sigh. Hoping today won't screw up any boards and can beat all the RJ's teams:P Haha.

Shall go for my breakfast and meet my captain who live in boarding school as well...

Wish me good luck:D

Will come again to blog about the result of the competition at night:D

2 Days to Competition!!!!!!

  • Apr. 30th, 2007 at 12:14 AM
Well. As excited as 2 days ago... or even more excited than 2 days ago. as this is my FIRST major competition in bridge. Squeezed out some info from one of my j3 senior in bridge club, and she says that the competition system is going to change from swiss table to knock out until final. OMG. That means basically my team cannot noob any single board, even against the normal schools:/ And wad is our aim for this bridge competition? To swipe all first, second and third placing. our school sending 7 teams, and 6 teams must win their way through in order to secure that. Well. That means I must work doubly hard for that competition, especially after these few days noobing on BBO.

Well. And now i have 2 students for contract bridge:P haha.

Tml = CSM. shall bring bio notes there to mug, since bio lecture test is coming up on this friday and I m not really prepared for the test. For chem... aiya i shall just do some last minute studying for chem :P bio is more important to me now:P

Continuously eat venezia for 2 days. venezia is NICE<3<3<3 haha. i am an icecream freak. dun mind me.

Lalala. Shall go and slp now to optimize my performance on tuesday...

Long time nvr update le...

Anyway... These coming few weeks is going to be mugging weeks for me... Tomorrow is the Maths Lecture test (which i haven't prepared even now), then Bio Lecture test and Chem lecture test on 2/5, which got a lot of things to compile and revise. I wonder why the school put 2 lecture test together... maybe trying to kill us:P Then 1/5 is my first bridge competition, from 8am to 6pm, which again shorten my revising time... Sigh... no more time to slack liao:/

Well. Last week... I am not in the right state to go to school lar. The whole week i was lyk... sleeping during lectures, lagging during tutorials. dunno why even after a lot of sleeping these weekend, I still feel tired:/ sigh.

Saturday, was the Research Symposium. I dun wan to go but forced to go. Sitting there listening to ppl presenting their projects, and the only project which i managed to follow, is Rui An's Maths project. All others is either too cheem or i am sleeping. But i like the guest lecturer... haha he is very funny and able to catch people's attention. During the first half of the symposium, the auditorium was filled with people, but at the second half of the symposium, the people in the auditorium is obviously... reduced by more than half. Well. What can you say about the phenomenon? Haha.

Then at the night i go arcade wif my boarding school frens... Obviously, i go there to para. Haha. And i managed to pass a Expert max stars song, Tora Tora Tora. Well. was quite a surprise for me. Now my aim is to Full % pass Tora Tora Tora, and then is aim for velfare07 (dunno if i spelled the name of the song correctly), which is another max stars song.

Bleah. Why am i still slacking. Shall go and revise my Maths liao. Else i think i m going to fail my lecture test. Again. (Last lecture test i failed is bio btw). So... ya. Bye:D
